The Sylvia is a 305mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a hemispherical clear glass dome suspended from a brushed gold metal canopy. The fitting projects 176mm from the ceiling, sitting below the 200mm threshold that typically triggers planning concerns in low-ceiling rooms. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) mounts inside the dome, casting light outward through the clear glass and downward onto the floor below.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways, landings and smaller living rooms where a full pendant would hang too low, the Sylvia provides ambient light without dominating vertical space. The 305mm diameter covers a typical ceiling rose and suits rooms between 2.4m and 3m in height, where the fitting sits close enough to the ceiling to avoid head clearance issues but far enough to allow the glass dome to act as a visible feature. The clear glass shows the bulb shape, so a decorative filament LED or globe bulb enhances the visual effect.

The brushed gold finish on the canopy and central stem diffuses reflections and pairs with warm-toned interiors, brass door furniture and timber floors. The clear glass dome is hand-blown, so minor variation in thickness and a slight ripple texture are typical. The E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and brightness to match the room's use.

What bulb should I use?
