Description
The Sylvia is a 305mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a hemispherical clear glass dome that sits directly against a matte black metal canopy. A single E27 bulb fitting inside the dome casts light through the transparent glass, diffusing it across the ceiling and down into the room. The 176mm fitting height makes it suitable for spaces with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.4m or lower, where a pendant would hang too low.
Designed for bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms (check IP rating), and compact living spaces, the Sylvia provides ambient light without occupying vertical space. The glass dome acts as a diffuser that softens the direct glare of a bare bulb while still allowing warm light to spread across the ceiling plane. The matte black finish on the canopy provides a defined edge against white or light-coloured ceilings, adding visual weight to what would otherwise be a transparent fixture.
The clear glass dome shows minimal tint or texture, so the choice of bulb becomes the primary influence on light quality. Pairing the Sylvia with a warm-white LED filament bulb (2700K) creates a softer ambient effect, while a daylight-white bulb (4000K+) gives brighter task lighting for bathrooms or utility spaces. The 60W maximum rating allows flexibility across LED, halogen and traditional filament bulbs, all sold separately.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Sylvia takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair it with an 8-10W LED filament bulb at 2700K for warm ambient bedroom lighting, or a brighter 12-15W daylight LED for hallways and bathrooms.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 176mm fitting height projects from the ceiling, so it works well in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or higher. It is specifically designed as a low-ceiling alternative to pendant lights.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The Sylvia does not carry a stated IP rating in the specification provided. Check the product specification sheet (linked in Downloads) for bathroom zone suitability before installation in wet or splash-prone areas.
Is the glass tinted or frosted?
The glass dome is clear and untinted, so the bulb is visible when lit. Choose a filament-style LED bulb if you want the bulb itself to add decorative value, or a standard opaque LED if you prefer the bulb to remain visually minimal.
