Sussex 5 Light Chandelier - Brushed Nickel

The Sussex is a 5-light chandelier built around a central column of clear glass and brushed nickel turned elements, with five curved arms radiating from the base of the column, each carrying a white fabric hardback shade over an E14 candle-style fitting. The brushed nickel finish runs across the canopy, chain, column detailing, curved arms and candle holders, while the clear glass inserts in the column and at each socket add vertical visual breaks through the metalwork.

Designed for dining rooms, living rooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Sussex provides distributed ambient light across a 660mm diameter footprint. The drop is adjustable from 740mm to 2230mm on installation via the 1524mm chain, allowing the chandelier to be set 700-900mm above a dining table or positioned higher in a double-height entrance. Each of the five arms takes a 40W maximum E14 bulb (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose warm-white LEDs for softer ambient light or candle-flame filament bulbs for a more traditional aesthetic.

The white fabric shades diffuse the light output from each bulb, softening glare and directing most of the light downward and outward rather than up into the ceiling void. The brushed nickel finish on the metalwork reduces reflections compared to polished chrome or brass, making the chandelier pair comfortably with both warm-toned and cool-toned interiors. The clear glass column segments and candle surrounds add a degree of transparency through the centre of the fitting, preventing it from reading as a solid mass when viewed from below.

What bulbs does the Sussex take?

Each of the five arms takes a standard E14 small Edison screw bulb up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K, or decorative filament candle bulbs for a traditional look.

What drop height works for a dining table?

The chandelier is typically hung 700-900mm above a dining table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The 1524mm chain allows adjustment between 740mm and 2230mm total drop during installation, so the height can be set to suit your specific ceiling and table arrangement.

Can the fabric shades be cleaned?

The white fabric hardback shades can be dusted with a soft brush or dry microfibre cloth. For marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the fabric or using household sprays which may stain or discolour the material.

Is the Sussex suitable for low ceilings?

At 629mm fitting height plus a minimum 740mm drop, the Sussex requires at least 2.4m ceiling height to avoid the chandelier sitting too low in the room. For ceilings below 2.4m, a semi-flush or flush ceiling light is typically a better fit.
