Description

The Sussex is a single-bulb wall light built around a turned metal column in brushed nickel, with a white hardback fabric shade on top and a clear glass candle sleeve at the bulb holder. The column connects to a rectangular backplate via a curved arm bracket, giving the fitting a 171mm projection from the wall. The E14 socket accepts candle-style bulbs up to 40W.

Designed for hallways, bedroom reading positions and living room flanking applications where soft ambient light is needed alongside a decorative fitting, the Sussex suits both traditional and transitional interiors. The 451mm height and 114mm width make it appropriate for narrow wall runs between doorways or either side of a mirror or headboard. The fabric shade diffuses the light evenly, reducing glare while maintaining enough brightness for task visibility in a dressing area.

The brushed nickel finish on the metalwork provides a low-lustre surface that catches light without producing harsh reflections, pairing comfortably with chrome fittings, stainless steel kitchen hardware and both warm and cool wall tones. The turned column detail and curved arm bracket give the fitting a classical profile without period-specific ornament, allowing it to sit within both heritage and newly built interiors. The white fabric shade is a hardback construction, retaining its shape over time without sagging or wrinkling.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Sussex take?

The fitting takes a single E14 small Edison screw candle bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in 2700K-3000K warm white for ambient lighting in hallways.

How far does it project from the wall?

The Sussex projects 171mm from the wall when installed, measured from the backplate to the front of the fabric shade. This suits standard-depth hallways without obstructing circulation.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. It has no stated IP rating, so it is for dry rooms only.

Can the shade be cleaned?

The white fabric hardback shade can be dusted with a soft dry cloth or gently vacuumed using a brush attachment. For marks, a barely-damp lint-free cloth may be used, but avoid soaking the fabric or using household cleaners that can stain or discolour the material.
