Description
The Surcos is a 180x80cm rectangle wall mirror with hand-applied gold leaf detailing set into the clear glass surface, creating organic branching patterns that appear to flow across the reflective plane. The mirror can be mounted vertically as a full-length dressing mirror or horizontally above a sideboard or console, with the gold leaf visible as accent lines that catch and reflect ambient light.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms, dressing rooms and living room feature walls, the Surcos works in spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above when mounted vertically, or in horizontal orientation above furniture where wall width allows. The 4cm depth includes the mirror glass and backing board, with wall-mounting brackets recessed into the rear frame. At 38.6kg, the mirror requires secure fixing into masonry or timber studs using appropriate wall plugs and brackets rated for the weight.
The gold leaf is applied by hand in irregular organic lines that resemble natural fissures or tree branches, so each mirror carries slight variation in the exact pattern and density of the gold detailing. The reflective surface remains uninterrupted across the majority of the 180x80cm area, with the gold accents concentrated along flowing lines that read as decorative rather than functional. The gold brings warmth to neutral and cool-toned interiors, pairing with brass, bronze and warm timber finishes.
Schuller produces this mirror in Spain, where the gold leaf application is carried out in their Valencia workshops. The mirror glass is 4mm float glass with a standard silver backing, giving a clear neutral reflection. The frame construction uses MDF with a matt finish that sits flush with the glass edge, creating a borderless appearance from the front.

Frequently Asked
Can it be mounted horizontally?
Yes. The Surcos can be mounted vertically as a full-length mirror or horizontally above furniture. The mounting brackets are recessed into the rear frame and accommodate both orientations. Horizontal mounting requires a wall width of at least 180cm plus clearance either side for bracket access.
How is the gold leaf applied?
The gold leaf is hand-applied in irregular organic lines during manufacture in Schuller's Valencia workshops. Each mirror shows slight variation in the exact pattern and density of the gold detailing, a characteristic of the hand-application process rather than a defect.
What wall fixings are needed?
At 38.6kg, the mirror requires heavy-duty wall plugs and brackets rated for the weight. For masonry walls, use expanding metal plugs or resin fixings. For stud walls, fix into timber joists or use hollow-wall anchors rated to at least 50kg combined load. The mirror should not be hung on plasterboard alone.
Does the gold leaf affect the reflection?
The gold leaf lines are concentrated along flowing accent patterns, leaving the majority of the 180x80cm surface as clear uninterrupted reflective glass. The gold reads as decorative detailing rather than obstructing the functional mirror area.
