Description

The Strataform is a 770mm alabaster table lamp built around a vertical column of natural Spanish alabaster, framed by four slim matt black uprights that run between a circular matt black base and a matching cap at the top of the stone. A rectangular soft white fabric shade sits above on a slender stem, taking a single E27 bulb (sold separately).

The lamp suits living rooms, studies and bedrooms where a tall accent light is wanted on a console, sideboard or larger bedside table. At 430mm in length and 280mm wide across the shade, it needs a surface depth of around 300mm to sit comfortably without the shade overhanging. The E27 socket accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs, allowing the colour temperature and brightness to be matched to the room.

When lit, the alabaster column glows from within, picking out the mineral veining and tonal variation that runs through the natural stone. The matt black uprights and base read as an architectural cage around the softer organic core, holding the proportions square while the shade above diffuses a separate pool of ambient light downwards onto the surface below.

Each alabaster column is cut from natural Spanish stone, so the patterning, translucency and warmth of the glow differ between individual lamps. The matt black metalwork is finished to a low sheen that minimises reflections, pairing the Strataform comfortably with contemporary, transitional and classic interiors.
