Stockholm Large Bollard Light 850mm - Stained Wood & Black

The Stockholm Large Bollard is an 850mm outdoor path light combining a stained wood cylinder with black galvanised steel top and base sections. A horizontal louvred cage surrounds a frosted cylindrical diffuser, which houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) rated up to 60W. The IP65 rating protects the internal components from dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed garden paths, driveways and coastal installations.

Designed for garden path definition, driveway edges, patio perimeters and entrance zones, the 850mm height places the light source at mid-shin to knee level, distributing light horizontally across paving or gravel rather than upwards into eyes. The louvred cage prevents direct glare while still allowing 360-degree light distribution around the bollard. The stained wood section adds visual warmth and a natural material accent that pairs with both traditional and contemporary landscaping.

The galvanised steel construction resists corrosion in UK coastal environments without requiring an exclusion zone, so the bollard can be installed within a few hundred metres of saltwater shorelines. The stained wood finish shows natural grain variation between individual pieces and will weather over time if left untreated, developing a silvered patina. The black steel top and base caps protect the wood ends from water absorption and provide mounting points for ground fixing.

What bulb does it take?

The bollard takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for outdoor path lighting. The frosted diffuser softens the light from any bulb type.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The galvanised steel construction is coastal-safe with no exclusion zone, so the bollard can be installed within a few hundred metres of saltwater without accelerated corrosion. The stained wood section may weather faster in salt air but the structural integrity remains unaffected.

How is the bollard fixed to the ground?

The base cap provides fixing points for ground mounting. Installation typically requires a concrete footing or a buried mounting spike, depending on the ground surface and local drainage conditions. The bollard is not height-adjustable once installed.

Will the wood change colour over time?

Yes. The stained wood finish will weather naturally when exposed to UV and rain, developing a silvered grey patina over 1-2 years. The black steel caps protect the wood ends from water absorption. Periodic treatment with outdoor wood oil can slow the weathering if the original tone is preferred.
