Description
This steampunk wine bottle and glass holder brings a bottle and two glasses together in one gothic table piece, with a winged dragon draped over a grinning resin skull. The dragon's wings rise high behind the skull, its forelegs stretch out to either side, and its head rests on the brow between two eye sockets filled with gears, cogs and coiled springs. Its scaled tail wraps round the jaw and through the teeth. The main colour is an antique silver, picked out with bronze-toned accents on the wing bones, rivets and clockwork details, so every scale and gear catches the light. It stands 21cm high, 23cm wide and 22.5cm deep.
The bottle sits upright in the open crown of the skull, between the wings, and each outstretched claw holds a wine glass by its stem, so the wine and the glasses stay together, ready to pour. We like it on a sideboard, a dining table or a home bar, where it keeps a bottle to hand and gives guests something to talk about over dinner. It suits a gothic or steampunk interior, a games room or a study lined with fantasy novels. With the bottle and glasses put away, it still holds its own as a skull and dragon sculpture on a shelf or mantelpiece.
It is made from resin and finished in antique silver with bronze-toned detailing, and it is freestanding, resting on the base of the skull, so it needs no wall or fixing. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth and use a soft brush to reach into the scales and gears; wipe away any drips of wine with a damp cloth and dry it straight after. Set a favourite bottle in the skull and two glasses in the claws before you wrap it, and it makes a gift with real character.
