Stainless Steel Up/Down Wall Light With PIR Sensor - 2 x GU10

The Knightsbridge WALL4LSS is a cylindrical stainless steel up/down wall light with an integrated PIR motion sensor housed in the rectangular backplate. Two GU10 sockets inside the cylinder fire light upwards and downwards through clear diffusers at each end, with the PIR sensor positioned centrally on the backplate to detect motion up to 8 metres away at a 110° detection angle when mounted at 2.4m height.

Designed for external installation on porches, garage entrances, pathways, rear house walls and garden boundaries, the IP44 rating protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The 304-grade stainless steel construction resists corrosion in coastal and wet conditions. The PIR settings are adjustable via controls accessed from the rear: brightness threshold determines whether the sensor activates in low light or dusk conditions, sensitivity adjusts the detection range, and illumination time sets how long the light stays on after motion is detected.

The cylinder measures 60mm diameter with a 112mm projection from the wall once fitted. The backplate mounts onto a standard external wall box or directly onto masonry via the concealed fixing points. Each GU10 socket accepts halogen or LED GU10 bulbs up to 35W (bulbs sold separately), with most installations using 5-7W LED GU10s in warm white 2700K-3000K for a total output of approximately 800-1000 lumens when both lamps fire. A manual override control allows the light to stay on continuously when required, bypassing the PIR function.

What GU10 bulbs should I use?

The fitting accepts any GU10 halogen or LED bulb up to 35W per socket. Most users fit 5-7W LED GU10s in warm white 2700K-3000K, which provides adequate brightness for external security lighting while keeping running costs low. Bulbs are sold separately.

How do I adjust the PIR settings?

The PIR controls are accessed from the rear of the backplate. Three adjustments are available: brightness threshold determines whether the sensor activates only in darkness or also at dusk, sensitivity adjusts detection range from approximately 2m to 8m, and time sets the illumination duration from a few seconds to several minutes after motion is detected.

Can the light stay on without the PIR?

Yes. A manual override control bypasses the PIR function, allowing the light to stay on continuously. This is useful when hosting outdoor gatherings or when constant illumination is needed rather than motion-triggered activation.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

The 304-grade stainless steel construction offers good corrosion resistance in most coastal and wet conditions. For severe coastal exposure with regular salt spray, periodic rinsing with fresh water and a soft cloth will help maintain the finish over time.
