This square travel alarm clock opens up to stand on its own base and folds back into a neat white case when it is time to pack. It is made from white plastic, with a white dial behind a clear front, bold pale green Arabic numerals and black hour and minute hands, joined at the centre by slim red and yellow hands. A quartz movement keeps the time, and the alarm is a plain beep. It measures about 8cm tall, 8cm wide and 7cm deep, small enough to slip into a washbag or the corner of a suitcase.

At home it suits a bedside table, a guest room or a desk, and because it closes up it is just as happy on the road: tuck it into a weekend bag, then open it on a hotel bedside or a holiday cottage shelf when you arrive.
