Description

The Spyre is a 610mm diameter pendant light built around a hand-hammered champagne gold frame that supports a cream fabric drum shade. Six E14 bulb fittings sit inside the drum shade, with the gold frame running vertically through the centre of the shade in a series of hammered metal stalks that extend both above and below the fabric. The hand-hammered finish gives each metal surface a textured, irregular appearance that catches and diffuses light differently across each panel.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and kitchen islands with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Spyre provides both ambient light through the fabric shade and decorative interest through the visible metalwork. The adjustable chain suspension allows the pendant to be set between 915mm minimum drop and 3914mm maximum drop on installation, giving flexibility to match ceiling height and furniture clearance. The 610mm width suits tables of 1.6-2.4m length or kitchen islands of similar proportions.

The champagne gold finish sits between yellow gold and rose gold in tone, presenting as a warm metallic with slight pink undertones that pairs well with warm whites, creams, natural woods and stone surfaces. The pendant has six E14 (small Edison screw) fittings, each rated to a maximum of 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with six warm-white LED candle or golf-ball bulbs in the 4-6W range and 2700K-3000K colour temperature for dining and ambient lighting.

What drop height is recommended above a dining table?

The pendant typically sits 750-850mm above the dining table surface. For a standard 750mm table height and 2400mm ceiling, setting the pendant to approximately 1700-1800mm total drop from ceiling to base of fitting works well. The 3048mm chain allows adjustment during installation.

Can the fabric shade be cleaned?

The cream fabric drum shade can be gently dusted with a soft brush or vacuumed on low power using an upholstery attachment. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the fabric and allow it to dry fully before switching the light back on.

Is the champagne gold finish lacquered?

Hinkley's champagne gold finishes are typically lacquered to prevent tarnishing and to preserve the hand-hammered texture. The lacquer can be wiped clean with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal polishes as these may damage the protective coating.
