Description

A small round spotlight in plain white, measuring 84mm across the face, with a clean cylindrical body and no fuss to its shape. It takes a GX53 lamp, the flat disc type that sits close to the front of the fitting, rated up to 12W, and an LED is the sensible choice here. There is no dimming built in, so we would pair it with a plain non-dimmable LED and leave any control to the switch. The proportions are compact enough that it reads as part of the ceiling line rather than an object hung on it.

We use fittings like this where a larger spotlight would look heavy: a kitchen ceiling above a run of units, a hallway, a landing, a study corner, or a shelf recess that wants its own pool of light. The wide GX53 lamp gives a broader, softer spread than a narrow spot, which makes it useful for general light in a small room as well as for picking out a worktop. Keep it to rooms that stay dry; a shower room or a covered porch asks for a sealed fitting instead.

The white finish is even and low key, so the body sits quietly against a white ceiling and does not fight whatever colour is on the walls. It is double insulated, and it carries a one year warranty. For cleaning, turn the power off, let the lamp cool, then run a dry cloth around the rim and the body, keeping solvents and anything damp away from the lamp housing.
