Description

A narrow tube of a spotlight, this one hugs the ceiling and sends its light straight down in a tight column. The body is only 40mm across, so it reads as a thin white line rather than a piece of hardware, and it stands 30cm tall. It takes a GU10 reflector lamp of the 35mm size, and it is not dimmable, so an ordinary switch is all it asks for.

We reach for it where a wider spotlight would look heavy: a slim white body disappears against a white ceiling and leaves the beam to do the talking. A run of them works well along a kitchen worktop or above a bank of shelves, and one on its own is enough to pick out a painting or a console table in a hall. It belongs in dry rooms, so kitchens, living rooms, hallways and bedrooms rather than anywhere it might meet steam or splashes. The drop is generous enough to bring the light down from a high ceiling.

The finish is a clean matt white right across the body, and the fitting is double insulated. Keep it looking right by switching off at the wall, letting the lamp go cold, then wiping the tube with a barely damp cloth; skip solvents and scouring creams, which will dull the paint. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same spotlight in black, and the range runs on into matching pendants in both finishes if you want the two hanging together. Larger round spotlights in the same family give you a broader disc of light where a pinpoint is not what you want. Lamps are not included.
