Description

Small, plain and quietly useful, this is a white cylinder of a spotlight measuring 40mm across and 10cm tall. The body is a simple tube with an open mouth, so light leaves in a defined cone rather than washing across the whole room. It takes a GU10 lamp, and a 35mm reflector suits the narrow body best. There is no dimming on this one, so an ordinary switch is all it asks for.

We use fittings this size where a ceiling needs light but not furniture: a galley kitchen, a landing, a run above a worktop, or a wall of books and pictures that wants picking out. It suits flats and cottages with lower ceilings, and it is one we reach for in a hallway that has to stay clear of anything hanging down. Because the tube is so slender, a few can sit in a line without the ceiling looking busy. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom or a porch wants something sealed instead.

It is light in the hand, and the white body keeps it discreet against a pale ceiling. Cleaning asks very little: a dry duster over the tube now and then, and if you are changing the lamp, switch off at the wall and let it cool first. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same spotlight in black, and the range runs to a small pendant in white and black, which is handy if you want a hanging light over a table and spots doing the background work in the same room. Lamps are not included.
