Split GU10 Spotlight 60mm - White

A small, straightforward spotlight in white, with a head 60mm across and a body 135mm tall. It takes a GU10 lamp, and we would put an LED reflector in it rather than a halogen, up to 12W. The light it gives is directional, so it works where you want brightness landing in one place rather than spread thinly across a room. It is not dimmable, and runs from an ordinary switch. Nothing about it asks for attention: the interest is in the light, not the fitting.

We reach for spotlights this size where a bigger fitting would look heavy: over a kitchen worktop, along a hallway, above a run of shelves, or in a small cloakroom where the ceiling is close overhead. A short row of them across a kitchen ceiling gives you working light without a bright central fitting, and it can work alone to pick out an alcove or a picture. It suits flats, box rooms and low ceilings, and any spot where the light needs pointing rather than spreading. Since it is switched rather than dimmed, it suits rooms where light is wanted on or off.

The housing is double insulated, and the white finish carries over the whole body, so it sits quietly against a pale ceiling. Dust it with a dry duster when you dust the room, and if the white needs more than that, a barely damp cloth and nothing abrasive. Let the lamp cool first. It carries a one year warranty. Which lamp should I use?

It has a GU10 socket and suits an LED reflector lamp of 50mm diameter, rated up to 12W. Lamps are supplied separately, so you can choose the warmth and brightness you prefer.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

No. This spotlight is non-dimmable and should be run from a standard on/off switch.

Is it suitable for a bathroom or outdoors?

How do I keep the white finish looking clean?

Switch the light off and let the lamp cool, then take dust off with a dry duster. Marks can be lifted with a barely damp cloth; avoid solvents and abrasive creams, which will dull the white.
