Description

The Schuller Sphere is a 5-light cluster pendant combining chrome, satin copper and satin brass globe shades on adjustable cables from a single chrome ceiling canopy. Each globe measures 12cm diameter, made from textured polycarbonate with a metallic band encircling the top hemisphere. The integrated 24W LED array sits inside the globes and casts 3000K warm white light through the textured lower half, creating a soft diffused glow rather than direct glare.

Designed for dining tables, breakfast bars and kitchen islands, the cluster hangs from a 33cm-diameter spread of cables that can be adjusted between 50cm and 120cm drop during installation. The remote-controlled dimmer allows brightness adjustment without installing a wall dimmer switch — the RF remote operates the integrated LED driver directly, providing flicker-free dimming from full output down to a low glow. The chrome canopy diameter is 33cm, which suits standard UK ceiling roses and provides cable exit points for the five suspension wires.

The mixed metal finish combines warm-toned satin copper and satin brass globes with cooler chrome globes and canopy, making the fitting adaptable to both warm and cool colour schemes without committing to a single tone. The polycarbonate globe construction keeps the total weight to 2.98kg despite the five-light count, reducing structural load on plasterboard ceilings compared to glass equivalents. The textured interior surface of each globe scatters light evenly and hides the LED board from view when looking up at the fitting.

How does the remote dimming work?

The supplied RF remote communicates directly with the integrated LED driver inside the canopy. No wall dimmer switch is needed — the remote controls brightness from full output to a low glow with flicker-free dimming. The remote operates on radio frequency, so it does not require line-of-sight to the fitting.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The cables are adjustable between 50cm and 120cm during installation. Once the cables are locked at the canopy and the excess is concealed, changing the drop height requires accessing the canopy again and re-adjusting each cable individually.

What size table does the 33cm cluster suit?

The 33cm spread works over tables between 90cm and 140cm wide. For larger tables a second cluster or a linear pendant provides more even coverage. For breakfast bars and kitchen islands the cluster typically hangs 70-80cm above the worktop.

Is the IP20 rating suitable for kitchens?

IP20 is rated for dry indoor use only. The fitting is suitable for kitchens provided it is not positioned directly above a sink, hob or steaming kettle where moisture or cooking vapour would reach the canopy and globes.
