Description

This chrome plated butterfly plaque is a small, bright keepsake built around two words that matter: Special Mum. A silver butterfly with open, cut-out wings perches on a slender stem, its outline traced in polished chrome. Two large pink faceted drops sit in the lower wings, and small pink studs dot the wing tips and the ends of its slim antennae, catching the light as you pass. Beside it, a round disc reads Special Mum in black lettering, framed by a fine border of swirls. The whole piece rises from a reflective oval base and measures 5.5cm tall, 7.5cm wide and 3.2cm deep.

Because it stands on its own base, it needs no wall and no fixings. Set it on a bedside table, a dressing table, a windowsill or a mantelpiece, wherever Mum will see it each day, and its small size means it will find room on even a crowded shelf. The silver and pink colouring sits happily beside photo frames and jewellery dishes. As a Mother's Day gift it says what a card says, but it stays out long after the cards have been put away, a small reminder that she is thought of.

The piece is chrome plated, which gives the butterfly and its base their bright silver shine. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth, and if it needs a little more, wipe it gently with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. Harsh polishes and abrasive pads are best kept away from plated metal. Handle the wings with a light touch, as the open cut-out work is fine. For gifting, wrap it in tissue with a handwritten note, and it becomes a small, lasting way to tell Mum she is special.
