Description
The Sonata is a 29cm pendant light with a hand-blown glass shade finished in warm copper tones, suspended from a matching copper canopy on a black cord. The shade's double-bulb silhouette consists of two rounded glass chambers stacked vertically, the upper sphere narrower than the lower, creating a proportion that recalls classical musical instruments. A single E27 bulb inside the lower chamber casts light through the copper-tinted glass, which softens the output and adds a warm metallic glow to the surrounding space.
Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.5m or above, the Sonata works as both task and ambient lighting depending on bulb choice. The adjustable drop ranges from 890mm to 1500mm, allowing the pendant to be set 700-900mm above a worktop or dining surface. The copper finish on the glass is translucent rather than opaque, so the filament of a decorative LED or vintage-style bulb remains visible when lit, adding a second layer of visual interest to the metallic glass itself.
Each Sonata shade is hand-blown, so slight variation in glass thickness, tonal depth and the exact curvature of the chambers occurs between individual pieces. The combined glass and metal fittings give the pendant a 3.2kg weight, requiring secure ceiling fixing into a joist or ceiling rose rated for the load. The copper-toned glass pairs with warm timber, brass fittings and terracotta tones in contemporary interiors, while also working in more classical spaces where metallic accents are already present.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Sonata take?
The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the copper glass tone. The bulb is visible through the translucent copper glass, so decorative filament styles work well.
Is the Sonata dimmable?
Yes, provided a dimmable E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch are used. The pendant itself does not include dimming hardware — dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb and dimmer pairing.
What ceiling height is needed?
The adjustable drop ranges from 890mm to 1500mm. For positioning above a dining table or kitchen island, the pendant typically sits 700-900mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.5m or above. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Sonata if the drop is set to the minimum 890mm.
Does the glass vary between pendants?
Yes. Each shade is hand-blown, so slight variation in glass thickness, the intensity of the copper tone, and the exact curvature of the two chambers occurs between individual pieces. This is a characteristic of hand-blown glass production, not a defect.
