Sonata 1 Light Pendant Light 29cm - Polished Chrome & Graphite Glass

The Sonata is a 290mm pendant light built around a double-bulb blown glass shade in graphite-tinted glass, suspended on a black braided cable from a polished chrome ceiling canopy. The glass shape is formed from two stacked bulbous sections, giving the pendant a violin- or cello-inspired silhouette. A single E27 bulb fits inside the upper section of the glass (sold separately), with light diffusing through the tinted glass walls and illuminating the lower bulb section from within.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3m, the Sonata pairs task and decorative function. The drop is adjustable between 890mm and 1500mm on installation, allowing the pendant to be set 700-900mm above a worktop or 750-850mm above a dining table depending on ceiling height. The 290mm diameter suits tables 1200-1600mm wide, and the graphite tint softens glare from exposed filament bulbs while still showing the bulb outline when lit.

The polished chrome canopy provides a mirror finish that reflects ceiling colour and ambient light, while the graphite glass shifts tone depending on the bulb fitted inside. With a warm-white LED or vintage filament bulb the glass reads as a warm smoke grey; with a daylight-temperature LED it appears cooler and more neutral. The combined glass and chrome construction gives the fitting a 3.2kg weight, requiring a standard UK ceiling rose or joist fixing for safe installation.

What bulb does it take?

The Sonata takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED (2700K-3000K) or a vintage-style filament bulb to show through the graphite glass.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb and dimmer combination. Fit a dimmable E27 LED or halogen bulb and pair it with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer for full dimming control.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop suits ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3m. For a dining table or kitchen island the pendant typically sits 750-850mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Sonata if the cable is shortened to the minimum 890mm drop during fitting.

How is the glass cleaned?

Switch off and allow the bulb to cool completely. Wipe the glass gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the chrome canopy or cable entry point.
