Description

The Sonata is a 22cm glass pendant light built around a double-gourd-shaped shade in bronze-tinted glass, suspended from an antique brass canopy and rod. The glass is hand-blown into a stacked form that narrows at the centre before widening again at the base, creating two bulbous sections that catch and diffuse light in different ways depending on the bulb choice. A single E27 lampholder sits inside the upper section, with the bulb visible through the glass.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls, the Sonata works over surfaces where a single pendant provides both task and ambient light. The 750-1500mm adjustable drop allows the fitting to be positioned 700-900mm above a worktop or 650-800mm above a dining table depending on ceiling height. The bronze tint in the glass softens the light output and adds warmth to the cast, making the pendant suitable for rooms lit with 2700K-3000K warm-white bulbs.

The hand-blown glass shows slight tonal variation and subtle bubbles within the material — these are characteristics of the blowing process, not defects. The antique brass metalwork has a low-lustre finish that sits between polished and fully oxidised, pairing well with traditional, transitional and warm-toned contemporary interiors. At 2.1kg the pendant has enough weight to sit stable on the cable once installed but does not require additional ceiling support beyond a standard UK rose.

Frequently Asked

Is the Sonata dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The pendant itself is fully dimmable — the dimmer control depends on the bulb and the dimmer model you fit.

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes one E27 bulb (sold separately). Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED filament bulb in the 2700K-3000K range, as the bronze-tinted glass already adds warmth to the light output.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 750mm minimum drop suits ceiling heights of 2.4m or above when hung over a dining table or kitchen island. For lower ceilings the cable can be shortened during installation, though this requires electrical work.

Does the glass vary between pieces?

Yes. Each shade is hand-blown, so slight tonal variation, faint bubbles and minor asymmetry in the glass are normal. This is a characteristic of hand-blown production, not a defect.
