Description

The Solitha is a 400mm flush ceiling light with three GX53 bulb fittings housed behind an acid-etched white glass diffuser. The blown glass dome features decorative relief stripes that scatter light across the surface, and a satin brass metal frame encircles the base where the diffuser meets the ceiling rose. The three GX53 lamps (sold separately) sit flush within the housing, keeping the overall projection from the ceiling to approximately 120mm.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or higher, the Solitha works as primary lighting in bedrooms, hallways, smaller living rooms and home offices where a semi-flush or pendant would hang too low. The acid-etched finish on the glass diffuses the light evenly across the ceiling plane, reducing glare and hot spots. The fitting accepts dimmable GX53 LED lamps, allowing output to be adjusted from full ambient light during the day to softer background illumination in the evening.

The white glass and satin brass combination pairs with both warm and cool interior palettes — the brass adds a warmer accent against the crisp white diffuser without dominating the colour scheme. The relief stripe pattern becomes more visible when the lamps are switched on, as light refracts differently through the raised and recessed sections of the glass. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only.

The fitting takes three GX53 twist-and-lock bulbs, sold separately. GX53 is a flat disc-style LED bulb commonly used in flush and semi-flush ceiling lights. Most users pair this with warm-white (2700K-3000K) dimmable GX53 LEDs between 6-9W per bulb.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The Solitha projects approximately 120mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or higher where a pendant or semi-flush would hang too low. It works well in bedrooms, hallways and smaller living spaces.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable-compatible. You will need dimmable GX53 LED bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch to control the light output. Standard non-dimmable LEDs will not dim and may flicker.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating restricts the Solitha to dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require a minimum IP44 rating for zones 2 and 3, and higher for zones 0 and 1.
