Description

The Solarae is an 8-light chandelier built around a central polished chrome column with eight extending arms, each terminating in a clear blown glass sphere. The arms radiate outwards at varying angles, creating an asymmetric, branching structure approximately 1280mm wide and 440mm tall from canopy to lowest bulb. Each glass sphere houses a G4 bulb (sold separately), visible through the clear glass.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Solarae provides directional light from eight separate points across a wide horizontal spread. The 1280mm diameter suits tables between 1800-2400mm long, where a single central pendant would leave the ends under-lit. The polished chrome finish reflects ambient light during the day and adds a metallic accent to modern or minimalist interiors.

The clear glass spheres range in diameter from approximately 120-180mm depending on their position along the arm, with larger spheres positioned on the longer arms to balance the visual weight. The fitting weighs approximately 3.5kg fully assembled and requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or suitable anchor point. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments, so bathrooms, kitchens near sinks and outdoor covered areas are not suitable.

Each of the eight arms takes a G4 capsule bulb, sold separately. G4 bulbs are typically low-voltage (12V) and require a transformer, which may be integrated into the fitting or supplied separately, so check the product packaging on delivery. Most users pair this with 2W-3W LED G4 capsules in warm white (2700K-3000K).

What ceiling height is needed?

The 440mm drop from canopy to lowest bulb suits ceiling heights of 2.7m or above when fitted over a dining table. For lower ceilings the fitting can still work if the table sits away from main circulation routes, but clearance around the outer glass spheres should be checked during installation.

Is the fitting dimmable?

The specification lists the fitting as non-dimmable. If you need dimming functionality, confirm with us before purchase whether the fitting can support dimmable G4 bulbs paired with a compatible low-voltage dimmer.

Can it be fitted to a sloped ceiling?

The Solarae is designed for horizontal ceilings. Sloped or vaulted ceilings may cause the arms to hang at an angle, disrupting the balance of the design. If fitting to a slope is necessary, contact us to discuss whether an angled canopy adapter is available.
