Solar 2 Light Outdoor Wall Light White - IP44

The Solar is a white aluminium outdoor wall light with two GU10 fittings arranged in a vertical cylinder, one casting light upwards and one downwards. The cylinder measures 210mm in height with a 65mm diameter and projects from the wall on a rectangular backplate. Each fitting sits behind a transparent Pyrex glass lens that protects the bulb from weather while allowing full light transmission.

Designed for external walls on residential, hospitality and light commercial buildings, the Solar provides both ambient and functional lighting along pathways, at doorways, on porches and around patios. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects above 1mm and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for covered outdoor positions such as under eaves, within recessed doorways or on walls sheltered by overhangs. The dual up/down light distribution creates a wash effect on the wall surface, reducing harsh shadows and providing orientation lighting after dark.

The white powder-coated aluminium finish resists corrosion in typical UK coastal and urban environments. The cylindrical form sits flush against the wall with minimal projection, making it suitable for narrower pathways where a wider wall light might obstruct movement. The Solar accepts any standard GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to 50W (sold separately), and is dimmable when paired with compatible GU10 dimmable bulbs and a suitable external dimmer.

Does the Solar carry an IP rating for outdoor use?

Yes. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects above 1mm and water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor positions such as under eaves, within porches or on walls sheltered by overhangs. It is not rated for direct exposure to driving rain or full-weather positions without overhead cover.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The Solar takes two standard GU10 bulbs up to 50W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations pair this with warm-white LED GU10 bulbs between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K for exterior ambient lighting.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable-compatible. Actual dimming depends on using dimmable GU10 bulbs and pairing the circuit with a compatible external dimmer switch rated for LED or halogen loads.

How is the white finish maintained outdoors?

The powder-coated aluminium resists corrosion and fading in typical outdoor conditions. Clean the surface periodically with a damp microfibre cloth to remove dust, pollen and coastal salt deposits. Avoid abrasive cleaners or pressure washers which can damage the coating.
