Description

This is a slim tubular LED bulb in smoked glass, 18.5cm long and 3cm in diameter, with a spiral filament that coils up the length of the tube and a brass-coloured E27 screw cap. The glass has a black-transparent tint, so the bulb reads as a dark, smoky rod when unlit and a glowing amber coil when lit. It draws 4W and gives 50lm at a colour temperature of 1700K, a deep, warm glow far softer than an everyday white bulb. With an IP20 rating it belongs indoors, in dry rooms only.

At 50lm it is not suitable as a main light source, and we would never ask it to light a room by itself. Its job is atmosphere. It suits a bare pendant cord over a dining table, a kitchen island or a bedside, or a lamp with an open shade where the coil stays in view. Because the tube is only 3cm in diameter, it slips into slim open fittings where a rounder bulb would look bulky. Against a dark wall the smoked glass turns the filament into a warm line of light, so it works well in a bar corner, a hallway or a reading nook, with brighter lights doing the main work elsewhere.

The bulb has an E27 cap, the large Edison screw found in many pendants and table lamps, and it runs on 220 to 240V at 50/60Hz, the standard mains supply of a home. It weighs just 0.066KG packed, light enough for even a slim pendant cord. For care, wait until it is switched off and cool, then wipe the glass with a soft, dry cloth. Before ordering, check that your lamp or pendant takes an E27 cap and has room for a bulb 18.5cm long.
