Description
This small standing robin figurine is a little resin bird with all the charm of the real thing, from its round, plump body to its slender tail. Its feathers are soft brown with darker markings across the wings, its belly is a warm cream and its breast glows orange, finished with a tiny dark eye and a short beak. A fine texture runs across the body, so the feathers look ruffled and soft up close. It stands on two dark legs with spread toes, its head tilted slightly as if it has just landed. At 7cm high, 10cm wide and 4.5cm deep, it is a small piece that fits wherever there is a spare bit of shelf.
Because it stands on its own feet, the robin needs no hook or wall, and it sits happily on a mantelpiece, a bookshelf, a windowsill or a bedside table. We like it tucked beside a row of books, at the foot of a lamp or among houseplants, where it brings a touch of the countryside indoors without taking up room. Its brown and cream colouring sits well with natural wood, linen and stone, and the orange breast adds a small spark of warmth to a quieter corner. It also makes a thoughtful new home gift, easy to wrap and easy to find a place for in any room of a new house.
The figurine is made of resin, with every feather marking and the orange breast picked out in colour across the textured surface. Resin needs little looking after: dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it gently with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry. Keep it on a flat, steady surface where it will not be knocked. For a housewarming present, wrap it in tissue with a handwritten note, and it will be perched on a shelf within minutes of being opened.
