Description
The Slim Round is an 85mm diameter surface-mounted downlight with a cylindrical aluminium body in matt black, housing a single GU10 bulb fitting. The lamp sits recessed inside the 115mm-deep cylinder, creating a focused downward beam that minimises glare and spill light. This deep-set configuration makes the fitting suitable for accent lighting, task zones, and feature highlighting rather than general ambient light.
Designed for surface mounting where recessed downlights cannot be installed — below concrete ceilings, beneath joists in loft conversions, or onto plasterboard with shallow void depths — the fitting projects 115mm below the ceiling surface. It works in kitchens above worktops, hallways, cloakrooms, retail display areas, galleries and offices where directional ceiling light is needed without cutting into the ceiling structure. The GU10 fitting accepts any standard GU10 LED, halogen or CFL bulb up to 50W (sold separately), giving control over beam angle, colour temperature and brightness.
The matt black aluminium finish absorbs light rather than reflecting it, keeping the fitting visually recessive on dark ceilings and pairing comfortably with industrial, minimal and contemporary interiors. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor canopies. The cylindrical form and 85mm footprint allow multiple fittings to be grouped in geometric patterns or linear runs without visual clutter.

Frequently Asked
Does the fitting come with a bulb?
No. The GU10 bulb is sold separately, allowing you to choose the beam angle, colour temperature and wattage that suits your application. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in 3000K or 4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is needed.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture and must only be used in dry indoor environments. For bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor canopies, you need a fitting rated IP44 or higher.
How is it fixed to the ceiling?
The fitting mounts directly to the ceiling surface using two or three fixing screws through the base plate. The mains cable enters through a rear knockout in the base. Installation instructions are included in the product manual linked in the Downloads tab.
What ceiling void depth is needed?
None — that's the point of surface mounting. The entire 115mm height of the fitting projects below the ceiling surface, so it can be installed on solid concrete ceilings, shallow voids, or plasterboard with no void at all.
