The Maytoni Slim is an 85mm diameter fixed recessed downlight in black powder-coated aluminium, rated IP65 for outdoor installation. The fitting accepts a single GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately) and sits flush once recessed into a ceiling or wall cavity, with only the 40mm-deep black bezel and lens visible on the finished surface.

Designed for outdoor walls, soffits, covered porches and pathway ceilings, the IP65 rating protects the lamp holder and wiring from water jets and dust ingress, making the fitting suitable for exposed positions under eaves or in courtyard pergolas. The fixed downlight beam cannot be adjusted once installed, so positioning determines where the light falls — typically used to create pools of light on pathway surfaces, steps, or to graze textured wall finishes.

The powder-coated black aluminium finish resists corrosion in damp conditions and pairs with modern, industrial and minimalist exterior schemes. The 85mm cut-out fits between standard ceiling joist centres, and the spring-clip retention system allows the fitting to be removed for bulb changes or redecorating without disturbing the plaster or render around the aperture. The GU10 fitting accepts LED, halogen or energy-saving bulbs in warm white, cool white or daylight colour temperatures depending on the intended application.

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress (IP6X) and low-pressure water jets from any direction (IPX5). This makes it suitable for exposed outdoor positions including soffit lighting, covered porches, pergolas and exterior walls under eaves, but not for ground burial or full submersion.

What bulb does it take and is one included?

The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb up to 50W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W GU10 LED in either warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient outdoor lighting or cool white (4000K-5000K) for security or task lighting on steps and pathways.

Can the light direction be adjusted?

No. This is a fixed downlight — the beam direction is straight down once installed. If adjustable beam direction is needed, look for tiltable or gimbal recessed fittings in the same IP rating.

What size aperture is needed for installation?

The 85mm diameter refers to the visible bezel. The cut-out diameter required in the ceiling or wall will be slightly smaller — refer to the product manual linked in the Downloads tab for the exact cut-out dimension and minimum cavity depth behind the finished surface.
