Description
The Slim is an 85mm diameter fixed recessed downlight finished in matte gold cast aluminium with a GU10 lampholder. The fitting recesses 30mm into the ceiling, leaving the gold bezel flush with the plaster line and the aperture unobstructed for direct downward light. The GU10 socket accepts any standard GU10 LED, halogen or CFL bulb up to 50W (sold separately), giving control over beam angle, colour temperature and brightness.
Designed for residential and commercial interiors where fixed accent or task lighting is needed without surface-mounted hardware, the Slim suits hallways, kitchens, bathrooms (dry zones only — IP20), dining rooms, retail spaces and office corridors. The fixed orientation makes it appropriate for positions where the light direction can be set during installation and does not need adjustment afterwards, such as illuminating artwork, worktops or walkways.
The matte gold finish is a low-sheen warm tone that sits between polished brass and antique brass, pairing with both warm-toned interiors (oak, walnut, terracotta) and cooler greys without clashing. The cast aluminium construction dissipates heat from the GU10 bulb more effectively than plastic alternatives, extending bulb life and reducing the risk of discolouration around the bezel over time. The 85mm bezel diameter is a standard UK downlight size, making retrofitting into existing ceiling cutouts straightforward where the cutout matches.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling cutout size is required?
The fitting requires a circular ceiling cutout slightly smaller than 85mm diameter to allow the bezel to sit on the plaster surface. Typical cutout diameter is 70-75mm. The fitting recesses 30mm into the ceiling void, so at least 40mm void depth is recommended to allow clearance for the GU10 bulb and lampholder.
Can this be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress and should only be installed in dry zones of bathrooms (zone 3, outside the zones). For zones 1 and 2 near showers and baths, an IP44 or IP65-rated downlight is required.
Is the light direction adjustable?
No. This is a fixed downlight, meaning the bulb points directly downwards and cannot be tilted or rotated once installed. For adjustable accent lighting, consider a gimbal or eyeball downlight fitting.
What bulb is recommended?
Most users pair this with a GU10 LED bulb between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K warm white for general ambient lighting, or 4000K-5000K daylight for task lighting in kitchens or offices. Bulbs are sold separately. The fitting accepts any GU10 bulb up to 50W maximum.
