Description

The Sios is an 82cm semi-flush ceiling light built around three interlocking oval rings, each housing integrated LEDs behind silicone diffusers. The aluminium frame is finished in sandblasted white, giving a soft matte texture that minimises reflections. The fitting projects 9cm from the ceiling, sitting closer to the surface than a pendant while maintaining a sculptural presence.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways with standard 2.4-2.7m ceiling heights, the Sios provides ambient light across a 12-18m² floor area without requiring bulb changes or separate driver units. The 36W integrated LED runs at 3000K warm white with a CRI above 80, producing soft diffused light through the silicone ovals rather than direct downlight. The fitting is supplied with gravity toggles for secure mounting to plasterboard or solid ceilings.

The three ovals are arranged asymmetrically, with the largest ring measuring approximately 500mm at its longest axis and the two smaller rings scaled proportionally. The sandblasted white finish and curved silicone diffusers soften the metal frame, reducing visual weight compared to a solid ceiling fixture of the same size. The Class 1 electrical rating requires connection to an earthed circuit, and the IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only.

Schuller manufactures the Sios in Spain as part of their architectural LED range. The fitting weighs 1.8kg and ships fully assembled apart from ceiling mounting. The integrated LED lifespan is rated at approximately 25,000 hours on continuous use, equivalent to around 10-15 years of typical domestic evening use.

The integrated LED is rated at 36W on 220-240V mains. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific LED driver inside the fitting and the dimmer model. Contact us before pairing with a dimmer to confirm compatibility.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 9cm projection from ceiling to bottom of the fitting makes it suitable for standard UK ceiling heights of 2.4m and above. It works well in rooms up to approximately 2.7m where a pendant drop would feel too low.

What room size does it cover?

The 36W 3000K output provides ambient light across approximately 12-18m² of floor area, depending on wall colour and other light sources in the room. This suits a typical 4m x 4m living room or a 3.5m x 5m bedroom.
