Description

The Knightsbridge CU1300 is a single-gang 16mm pattress box designed specifically for use with the Knightsbridge Curved Edge (CU) series of wiring accessories. The box is moulded from white thermoset resin with a rounded edge profile that matches the curved aesthetic of CU-series faceplates, creating a flush fit between the box and the cover plate when installed on the wall surface.

Designed for surface-mounting in residential and light commercial installations where recessing into the wall is not practical or desired, the 16mm depth provides enough internal space for single-gang switches, sockets or data points with standard cable terminations. The integrated earth terminal allows protective earth continuity to be maintained through the installation without requiring a separate earth block or conductor loop.

The thermoset resin construction is harder and more heat-resistant than standard PVC back boxes, maintaining dimensional stability during the life of the installation. The white finish matches standard UK wall colours and the material carries anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the box surface in areas where hygiene is a concern. The IP20 rating makes this suitable for dry indoor locations but not wet rooms or outdoor use.

Is this compatible with standard single-gang accessories?

This pattress box is designed specifically for Knightsbridge Curved Edge (CU) series wiring accessories. The rounded edge profile matches the curved aesthetic of CU faceplates. It may not sit flush with sharp-edged or flat-edged accessories from other ranges.

Can this be used for outdoor installations?

No. The IP20 rating makes this suitable only for dry indoor locations. For outdoor or wet-room installations you need a higher IP-rated enclosure, typically IP55 or above.

What does the earth terminal do?

The integrated earth terminal provides a fixed brass terminal inside the box for connecting the protective earth conductor from the cable to the earth connection on the wiring accessory. This maintains earth continuity through the installation without needing a separate earth block.

What is the warranty period?

Knightsbridge provides a 25-year warranty on this pattress box, covering manufacturing defects and material failure under normal use.
