Description
The Silver Coral is a 559mm drum pendant from Kichler, built around a cylindrical frame wrapped in laser-cut metal panels that mimic the branching structure of coral. Four E27 bulb fittings sit inside the drum (bulbs sold separately), with light passing through the coral cutouts and diffusing through an inner opal glass drum. The canopy, suspension cables and metal coral panels are all finished in brushed nickel.
Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or higher, the pendant provides ambient light filtered through two layers — the coral metalwork casts shadowed patterns onto ceilings and walls, while the inner opal glass diffuser softens the direct output from the bulbs themselves. The drop is adjustable between 350mm and 1194mm on installation, allowing the fitting to be set 700-900mm above a dining table or lowered further in a double-height space. The 559mm diameter suits tables up to 2m long or open-plan areas needing a defined light zone without a heavy visual mass.
The coral pattern is cut from thin-gauge steel sheet and formed into a continuous wrap around the drum, giving a three-dimensional relief effect where the metal edges catch light differently depending on viewing angle. The brushed nickel finish sits between polished chrome and satin steel in reflectivity, pairing comfortably with stainless appliances, grey joinery and cool-toned interiors. Each E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, so four 8-10W warm-white LEDs at 2700K-3000K would give approximately 3200-4000 lumens combined output — enough for a dining table without overwhelming the space.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs are recommended?
The pendant takes four E27 bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED bulbs between 8-10W at 2700K-3000K. This gives enough light for dining without harsh glare, as the opal glass diffuser softens the output.
How is the drop adjusted?
The suspension cables are adjustable between 350mm and 1194mm during installation. Once set and the canopy fitted to the ceiling, the drop is fixed unless the fitting is dismounted and reset.
Does the coral metalwork cast shadows?
Yes. The laser-cut coral pattern allows light to pass through the gaps, projecting a subtle branching shadow pattern onto nearby walls and ceilings. The effect is more pronounced with higher-wattage bulbs or when the pendant is positioned near a wall.
What ceiling height is needed?
For a dining table application with the pendant 700-800mm above the surface, a ceiling height of 2.6m or above works comfortably. The minimum 350mm drop allows the fitting to work in rooms with 2.4m ceilings if it's used as general ambient rather than table-focused lighting.
