Description

The Silentina is a two light ceiling light built as an open rectangular cage of black steel, with two adjustable spot heads mounted inside the frame. It measures 36cm long, 18cm wide and 20.5cm high, so it sits close to the ceiling while still giving the room a crisp, architectural outline. Each head takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulbs are not included, which leaves the choice of colour and brightness with you. Its IP20 rating settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from steam and splashing water.

Because the frame is open at the sides and base, light from both heads spreads freely rather than being enclosed, and the slim steel lines stand out clearly against a pale ceiling. We think it suits a kitchen, a dining area, a hallway or a living room, especially where a lower ceiling rules out a pendant. The two heads angle independently, so you can wash light across a worktop, aim one at a picture or a bookshelf, or point both straight down for general light. If you choose clear filament bulbs, the glowing filaments sit on show inside the cage and suit its industrial look particularly well.

The body is steel in a black finish, and each head turns on a short stem fixed to the ceiling plate, so you can adjust the beams after fitting. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, from the room's existing light switch. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and because it is wired into the mains, it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions come as a download, and the packed weight is 2.032KG. Before you order, add two E27 bulbs of up to 40W each to your list, as none come in the box.
