Description

The Shine is an outdoor floor lamp built around a single slender anthracite-grey metal stem rising from a circular weighted base, topped with a white PMMA tapered shade. The lamp stands 1520mm tall with a 347mm diameter shade and carries an IP65 rating, protecting the internals from dust ingress and water jets from any direction. It houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the white diffuser, which softens the light output and reduces glare.

Designed for outdoor patios, terraces, poolside areas and covered garden seating zones, the Shine provides ambient and decorative lighting where ceiling fittings are impractical. The 1500mm neoprene cable with plug allows the lamp to be repositioned between outdoor power sockets without permanent wiring. The weighted base keeps the lamp stable on decking, paving and short outdoor rugs, though wind-exposed positions may benefit from additional ballast.

The powder-coated anthracite finish on the metal stem resists UV fading and surface rust in outdoor conditions, while the white PMMA shade is impact-resistant and handles temperature fluctuations without cracking. The lamp is dimmable when paired with a compatible E27 LED bulb and trailing-edge dimmer. Pair with a warm-white 2700K LED for outdoor dining areas, or a cooler 4000K for task lighting near outdoor kitchens.

What does the IP65 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP65 means the lamp is fully dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. This allows it to be used outdoors in rain, but it is not rated for submersion. Suitable for patios, terraces and covered outdoor areas, though prolonged direct exposure to driving rain may reduce the lifespan of the bulb and internal components.

What bulb should I use?

The Shine takes a standard E27 bulb up to the maximum wattage specified by the manufacturer. For outdoor ambient lighting, a 6-10W warm-white LED (2700K-3000K) is typical. Bulbs are sold separately. Ensure the bulb you choose is rated for outdoor or damp-location use.

Is the lamp stable in wind?

The weighted base provides stability on level surfaces in light to moderate wind. In exposed positions or high-wind areas, additional ballast (sandbags, outdoor weights) placed on the base can improve stability. Avoid placing the lamp where it can be knocked by doors or foot traffic.

Can it be left outside year-round?

The IP65 rating and powder-coated metal construction allow the Shine to remain outdoors through most UK weather. However, bringing the lamp indoors or under cover during winter months when not in use will extend the life of the finish and internal components.
