Description

The Knightsbridge SN8909 combines a 230V 20VA shaver socket with dual USB charging ports behind a white square edge plate. The USB section provides one USB-A and one USB-C outlet sharing a 5V DC 2.4A output, allowing simultaneous charging of two devices while the shaver socket remains available for electric toothbrushes or razors.

Designed for bathroom installation where both grooming appliances and device charging are needed, the socket carries an IP41 rating for protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and vertical dripping water. The shaver outlet is certified to EN 61558 and accepts 230V AC single-voltage shavers, electric toothbrushes and similar grooming appliances rated up to 20VA. The unit requires a minimum 47mm mounting box depth for safe installation.

The white square edge plate is made from thermoset resin with anti-microbial properties that resist bacterial growth on the surface, making it suitable for high-humidity bathroom environments. The 9mm plate depth gives a low-profile finish on the wall with 41mm recessed depth behind the faceplate. The square edge style pairs with other Knightsbridge Square Edge accessories for a consistent finish across switches, sockets and control plates.

Can this be installed in a bathroom shower zone?

The IP41 rating provides protection against dripping water and is suitable for bathroom installation outside of shower zones 0, 1 and 2. Check IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) for specific zone guidance in your bathroom layout before installation.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm mounting box depth is required. The plate itself adds 9mm of projection from the wall surface once fitted.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB section provides 5V DC at 2.4A shared between the USB-A and USB-C ports. If two devices are connected simultaneously, the 2.4A output is divided between them.

Can I use a 110V shaver?

No. This is a single-voltage shaver socket rated at 230V AC only. It is not compatible with 110V shavers or dual-voltage models requiring a voltage selector switch.
