Description

The Knightsbridge shaver socket combines a 230V single-voltage shaver outlet with one USB-A and one USB-C charging port behind a matt black screwless faceplate with a black insert. The 20VA transformer isolates the shaver outlet from the mains supply, meeting BS EN 61558 safety standards for bathroom installation. The IP41 rating protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and vertically falling water drops.

Designed for bathroom installation in zones 2 and 3 (outside the immediate shower or bath area), the socket fits a 47mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The built-in gasket around the plate edge provides additional moisture protection when the plate is clipped into place. The dual USB ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output, allowing simultaneous charging of electric toothbrushes, shavers, phones and tablets without needing a separate adapter.

The matt black finish is powder-coated onto premium-grade steel, giving a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and water spotting better than polished finishes. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and provides visual separation between the shaver outlet aperture and the USB ports. At 147.5mm high and 87.5mm wide, the plate is taller than a standard double socket to accommodate the transformer and USB charging circuitry.

What bathroom zones is this shaver socket suitable for?

The IP41 rating makes it suitable for zones 2 and 3 in a bathroom (outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure). It should not be installed in zone 0 (inside a bath or shower tray) or zone 1 (directly above a bath or shower tray).

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed to accommodate the transformer and USB charging circuitry. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

What's the USB charging output?

The dual USB ports share a 5V DC 2.4A output. This means the total output is 2.4A whether you're using one port or both simultaneously — if both ports are in use, the current is divided between them.

Can this charge modern USB-C devices?

Yes. The USB-C port supports standard 5V charging for phones, tablets, electric toothbrushes and shavers. It does not support higher-voltage fast-charge protocols (USB Power Delivery), so charging speed will be comparable to a basic USB charger.
