Description

The Knightsbridge shaver socket provides a single 230V shaver outlet with one USB-A and one USB-C charging port behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a white insert. The unit transforms to 230V AC 20VA for electric shavers and toothbrushes while the USB ports deliver 5V DC 2.4A shared output for charging phones, electric razors and other low-voltage devices.

Designed for bathroom installation, the socket carries an IP41 rating protecting against solid objects larger than 1mm and vertically dripping water. The screwless low-profile design uses a metal cover plate that clips onto a separate mounting frame, giving a clean finish without visible fixings on the wall. The built-in gasket seals the edge of the faceplate against the wall surface, reducing moisture ingress around the perimeter.

The 147.5mm height and 87.5mm width suit standard bathroom accessory positioning, typically mounted 1200-1400mm above finished floor level adjacent to mirrors or near washbasins. The premium-grade steel construction provides rigidity and the brushed chrome finish pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and mirror frames. The white insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and frames the shaver outlet and USB port apertures.

The socket requires a minimum 47mm mounting box depth for safe installation and is certified to EN 61558 for safety transformers. The shared 2.4A output across both USB ports means total current draw is split when two devices charge simultaneously.

Can I use this socket outside the bathroom?

Yes. The IP41 rating and shaver socket certification make it suitable for bathrooms, but the unit can also be installed in bedrooms, hotel rooms or anywhere a combined shaver outlet and USB charging point is useful. The IP41 rating provides basic splash protection but is not required outside wet areas.

What is the USB charging output?

The socket provides 5V DC at 2.4A shared between the USB-A and USB-C ports. If one device is plugged in it can draw up to 2.4A. If two devices charge simultaneously, the 2.4A total is split between them.

What back box depth is needed?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is required. The recessed depth of the socket mechanism is 45mm, and the screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The brushed chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal mounting frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or tiling around the socket and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
