The Knightsbridge SF8909BC is a 230V shaver socket with integrated dual USB charging ports behind a brushed chrome screwless faceplate with a black insert. The unit combines a single-voltage 230V 20VA shaver outlet with one USB-A and one USB-C port, both delivering 5V DC at a shared 2.4A output. The IP41 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure.

Designed for bathroom installation in zone 2 or outside bathroom zones, the socket fits a 47mm minimum depth mounting box and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The built-in gasket between the plate and wall provides additional protection against moisture ingress. The shaver outlet is certified to EN 61558 and isolates the shaver load through an internal transformer.

The brushed chrome finish provides a mid-tone metallic surface that pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and shower fittings. The black insert behind the faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and defines the edges of the shaver outlet and USB apertures. The 147.5mm height and 87.5mm width make this a standard single-gang size that replaces or upgrades existing shaver sockets without rewiring, provided the back box depth is adequate.

The USB-C port supports modern fast-charge protocols for phones and tablets, while the USB-A retains compatibility with older cables and devices. The shared 2.4A output means the charging speed adjusts depending on whether one or both ports are in use simultaneously.

What bathroom zones is this socket suitable for?

The IP41 rating makes this suitable for zone 2 or outside bathroom zones. It cannot be installed in zone 0 (inside the bath or shower tray) or zone 1 (directly above the bath or shower). In most bathrooms this means the socket can be fitted on a wall at least 600mm away from the bath or shower enclosure.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum mounting box depth is needed. The socket has a 45mm recessed depth plus the internal transformer and wiring space. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Can I use both USB ports at the same time?

Yes. Both the USB-A and USB-C ports can be used simultaneously. The 2.4A output is shared between the two ports, so charging speed adjusts depending on whether one or both devices are connected.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the mounting box. The cover can be removed for tiling or painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring. The built-in gasket remains on the sub-frame.
