Description

This pair of luggage-style storage boxes is made from MDF and finished in soft white, with pale pink trim around every edge and a row of silver studs along it. The set holds a larger box and a smaller one, and they stack neatly, the smaller sitting on top. Each lid opens from a silver swing clasp on the front, and the larger box has a handle at the side. The front of each box carries a pencil-style drawing of a kitten and the words of the old rhyme: sugar and spice, and all things nice, that's what little girls are made of. On the lid of the smaller box, beside a sketch of a little girl, the rhyme asks its question: what are little girls made of? The larger box is 18.2cm high, 23.4cm wide and 30.2cm deep.

We think the set suits a nursery or a little girl's bedroom, on a shelf, a chest of drawers or the floor beside the cot. The larger box makes a tidy home for folded muslins, tiny cardigans and soft hats, while the smaller keeps hair clips, bibs, first shoes and the cards worth saving. As a gift, it is a lovely choice for a baby girl or a toddler up to three years old, and a present her parents will put to use straight away.

Each box has an MDF body with the pink trim fixed around its edges, and the studs, clasps and handle give the pair the look of proper travel cases. For care, dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe any marks with a slightly damp cloth, then let them dry, and keep both in a dry room. Stacked, they take up little floor space. We like to tuck tiny socks and a bib inside the smaller box before giving the set.
