Description

The Sermessa is a tri-proof batten for the hard-working corners of a home. Its grey plastic body is 125.8cm long, 7.3cm wide and 5.6cm high, with a clear plastic diffuser held in place by clips along its length. It takes a G13 LED tube giving 1,700lm at 4000K, a crisp neutral white that suits tasks where you need to see clearly. The IP65 rating settles where it can go: the body is sealed against dust and against jets of water, so it lives happily outdoors on a house wall as well as in damp or dusty rooms indoors.

This is the light we would put in a garage, workshop, utility room, cellar or mains-powered shed, anywhere you want a long run of light over a workbench, a car or a wall of shelving. Outside, it sits well on a house wall beside a side door or along a covered passage. Its IP65 rating also means we can suggest it for a bathroom, where a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone. At 0.8KG it is easy to handle, and the slim profile keeps it tucked up out of the way on a low ceiling.

Construction is simple and practical. Plastic does not rust, which suits a damp garage or an outside wall, and the light grey body keeps a tidy, workmanlike look. There is no switch on the fitting: it is switched at the wall, on a 220-240V, 50/60Hz supply, and its energy class is E. As a wired mains light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. There is no separate driver, and the LED is replaceable by the user, so when the tube eventually reaches the end of its life you change the tube rather than the whole batten.
