Description

The Knightsbridge Seren is a 220mm recessed LED downlight with switchable wattage and colour temperature settings, designed for commercial installations where lighting requirements may change over the life of the fitting. Three wattage settings (30W, 35W, 40W) and three colour temperatures (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, 5000K cool white) are selected via dip switches on the driver before installation, giving nine different output combinations from a single SKU.

Designed for retail spaces, offices, hospitality and public areas where initial lighting design may need adjustment during commissioning or after occupancy, the Seren fits a standard 200mm ceiling cut-out and requires a minimum 100mm void depth above the ceiling surface. The die-cast aluminium housing with white powder-coated finish and opal polycarbonate diffuser provide IP40 protection from below (IP20 from above), making it suitable for dry internal environments including offices, corridors and retail sales floors.

The integrated SMD LED delivers up to 4900 lumens at the highest setting (40W, 5000K) with a rated efficacy of 179.7lm/W and a wide 110-degree beam angle that provides even ceiling wash without visible spotting. The fitting is non-dimmable and ships with plug-and-play connectors for quick installation. An optional emergency kit (EMKIT2) is available separately for installations requiring maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting. The Seren carries a 5-year warranty and an L70B50 rating of 50,000 hours, indicating 70% lumen maintenance at 50,000 hours under typical operating conditions.

How are the wattage and colour temperature settings changed?

Both wattage (30W, 35W or 40W) and colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5000K) are selected via dip switches on the driver unit before the fitting is installed into the ceiling. Once the ceiling is closed, the settings cannot be adjusted without removing the fitting and accessing the driver again.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 100mm void above the ceiling surface is required to accommodate the 69.5mm recessed depth of the fitting plus clearance for the driver and heat dissipation. The cut-out diameter is 200mm.

Is the Seren suitable for bathrooms?

The IP40 rating (IP20 from above) makes the Seren suitable for dry internal areas only. It is not rated for use in bathroom zones or other areas where moisture ingress is a concern.

Can it be used with emergency lighting?

Yes. The Seren is compatible with the Knightsbridge EMKIT2 emergency conversion kit, sold separately. This allows the downlight to function as maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting in compliance with BS 5266 where required.
