Seren LED Recessed Downlight 30-40W Tri-Wattage CCT DALI - White

The Knightsbridge Seren is a 220mm recessed LED downlight with switchable wattage (30W, 35W or 40W) and switchable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5000K), controlled via DALI2 protocol. The die-cast aluminium housing contains SMD LED modules behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser, delivering 3,665-4,900 lumens depending on the wattage and CCT combination selected. The DALI2 control gear integrates into networked building control systems or simple room control setups.

Designed for commercial spaces requiring adaptable lighting across different zones or usage scenarios, the Seren suits retail spaces, offices, corridors and reception areas where light levels and colour temperature may need to change throughout the day or between different room functions. The 200mm ceiling cut-out fits standard commercial ceiling grids and solid ceilings with a minimum 100mm void above. The fitting arrives with plug-and-play connectors to simplify installation and reduce on-site wiring time.

The aluminium housing is powder-coated white to integrate cleanly with white or off-white ceiling finishes. The IP40 rating (IP20 from above) allows the fitting to be used in dry indoor environments but not in areas exposed to water ingress. The 110° beam angle provides wide area coverage, reducing the number of fittings needed to achieve even illumination across a large ceiling plane. The L70B50 rating of 50,000 hours indicates that the LEDs will maintain at least 70% of their initial output for 50,000 hours, reducing maintenance frequency in high-ceiling or difficult-to-access installations.

The switchable wattage allows a single SKU to be adjusted on-site to balance light output against energy consumption, while the tri-CCT flexibility means the same fitting can deliver warm white (3000K) for hospitality areas, neutral white (4000K) for general office use, or cool white (5000K) for task-heavy environments. The constant current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains and the fitting is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 emergency lighting module for applications requiring maintained or non-maintained emergency backup.

How is the wattage and CCT selected?

Both wattage (30W, 35W or 40W) and colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5000K) are adjusted via switches on the driver unit before installation. This allows a single product to be configured for different applications on-site without stocking multiple SKUs.

What is DALI2 and do I need it?

DALI2 is a digital lighting control protocol that allows the fitting to be controlled via a networked building management system or simple room controller. If you're installing in a commercial space with centralised lighting control, DALI2 is required. For standalone mains-switched installations, a non-DALI version may be more appropriate.

What ceiling void is needed?

The fitting requires a minimum 100mm void above the ceiling surface. The recessed depth of the fitting itself is 69.5mm, with the remaining clearance allowing for heat dissipation and driver placement.

Can it be used with emergency lighting?

Yes. The Seren is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 emergency lighting module, which provides maintained or non-maintained emergency backup. The emergency kit is sold separately.
