Description

The Knightsbridge Seren is a 220mm recessed LED downlight with three selectable power outputs (30W, 35W, 40W) and three switchable colour temperatures (3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, 5000K cool white). Both settings are adjusted via switches on the rear of the fitting before installation, allowing the downlight to be configured to match the lighting requirements of the specific space without needing multiple stock variants.

Designed for commercial applications including retail, office, hospitality and education environments, the Seren fits a 200mm ceiling cut-out and requires a minimum 100mm void depth above the ceiling. The die-cast aluminium housing with white powder-coated finish and opal polycarbonate diffuser delivers a 110° beam angle, providing wide even coverage across floor areas. The integrated SMD LED array is rated for 50,000 hours at L70B50, meaning 70% of initial light output is retained after 50,000 hours of operation.

The fitting achieves efficacy up to 179.7 lumens per watt and is rated IP40 from below (IP20 from above), making it suitable for dry commercial interiors but not bathrooms or outdoor use. The downlight is 0-10V dimmable when paired with compatible control systems, and plug-and-play connectors simplify installation and allow for quick emergency module retrofitting using Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 (sold separately). The fitting carries a five-year warranty and is rated Class II double-insulated, so it does not require an earth connection.

How are the wattage and colour temperature adjusted?

Both settings are controlled by DIP switches on the rear of the fitting. The wattage can be set to 30W, 35W or 40W, and the CCT to 3000K, 4000K or 5000K. These switches must be set before installation, as they are not accessible once the downlight is recessed into the ceiling.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

A minimum 100mm void above the ceiling is required. The fitting itself has a recessed depth of 69.5mm, but the additional clearance is needed for heat dissipation and to accommodate the driver and connectors.

Is the Seren dimmable?

Yes, the fitting is 0-10V dimmable when paired with a compatible control system. Compatibility should be checked with the specific dimmer or control system being used before installation.

Can an emergency module be retrofitted?

Yes. The Seren is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 emergency conversion kit, which connects via the plug-and-play connectors and allows the downlight to operate as emergency lighting in the event of a mains failure.
