Seraph 5 Light Traditional Chandelier - Copper

The Seraph is a 640mm five-arm chandelier with hand-forged metalwork finished in copper with an applied antique patina. Five E14 candle bulbs (sold separately) sit on curved arms that loop outward and back in toward a central column, each arm decorated with wire scrollwork between the bulb holder and the central body. The copper finish shows tonal variation across the surface where the antique treatment has darkened into the recesses of the forged detail.

Designed for dining rooms, hallways and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Seraph provides ambient and decorative light across a 3-4m space. The 450mm drop from ceiling rose to the lowest point of the frame works above a dining table where the chandelier typically hangs 750-850mm above the table surface. The five arms distribute light evenly outward, reducing harsh shadows under the fitting. Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb chosen — pair with dimmable E14 LEDs to control light output through the evening.

Each chandelier is hand-shaped from metal rod and wire, so arm curvature and scrollwork detail vary slightly between individual pieces. The copper finish is applied by hand and then treated with an antiquing agent that accelerates natural oxidation, giving the metal a lived-in patina rather than a bright polished surface. The finish pairs well with warm wood tones, terracotta, and darker wall colours in traditional, country and transitional interiors. The IP20 rating limits the Seraph to dry indoor locations only.

What bulbs does the Seraph take?

The chandelier takes five E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulbs at 2700K to mimic the look of traditional filament candles without the heat output.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you use dimmable E14 bulbs. The chandelier itself is dimmer-compatible, but dimming performance depends on the specific bulb and dimmer switch pairing.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 450mm drop works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. When hung above a dining table, the chandelier typically sits 750-850mm above the table surface, which requires approximately 2.6-2.8m ceiling height to avoid head clearance issues when standing.

How is the copper finish maintained?

The antique copper finish will continue to oxidise naturally over time, deepening the patina. To preserve the current finish, wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. To slow further oxidation, a thin coat of clear metal lacquer can be applied, though this is optional and changes the surface slightly.
