Description
The Scout is a 165mm square outdoor wall light with a painted heritage brass finish and a single downward-facing GU10 lamp holder. The fitting includes an 8W 3000K GU10 LED bulb that directs light downwards from behind a curved brass shield, casting a focused beam onto the wall below and the ground immediately in front of the fitting.
Designed for porches, doorways, pathways and patio walls where defined downlighting is needed, the Scout mounts flush to the wall with a 120mm projection. The IP44 rating protects the lamp holder and internal components against solid objects above 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered exterior positions such as under eaves, canopies, or porch overhangs. The brass-finished shield doubles as a rain deflector, keeping water away from the downward-facing lamp.
The painted heritage brass finish provides a warm metallic tone that sits between polished brass and antique brass, with a slight matt texture that reduces glare under direct sunlight. Four exposed black screws on the rectangular backplate add a mechanical accent to the otherwise smooth brass surfaces. The compact 165mm height and width make the fitting suitable for positions where a larger wall light would overpower the architectural detail, or where multiple units are spaced at regular intervals along a pathway or terrace wall.
From Hinkley Lighting, the Scout carries a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee covering material and finish defects when installed and maintained according to the specification sheet.

Frequently Asked
Does the Scout include a bulb?
Yes. The fitting includes one 8W GU10 LED bulb at 3000K warm white. The bulb is replaceable with any standard GU10 LED up to 8W maximum.
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects above 1mm and water splashes from any direction. It suits covered outdoor positions such as under eaves, canopies or porch overhangs, but is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or submersion.
Can it be mounted at any orientation?
The Scout is designed for vertical wall mounting with the lamp facing downwards. Mounting it at other orientations would direct light in unintended directions and may reduce weather protection.
What surface does it mount to?
The backplate fixes to any solid wall surface using the four corner screw points. Masonry, brick, rendered block and timber walls are all suitable with appropriate fixings for the substrate.
