Description
The Saxon is an 8-light wrought iron chandelier built around a 900mm diameter wheel frame, finished in matt black with silver patina accents on the hammered metal panels. Eight E14 candle-style fittings sit on turned metal stems that extend outward from the wheel rim, each separated by beaten metal panels with a tactile hammered texture. The wheel frame is suspended on three heavy-gauge chains that converge at a central ceiling hook, with a total drop adjustable between 660mm and 2550mm during installation.
Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Saxon provides ambient light across a large footprint without requiring recessed ceiling fittings. The 900mm diameter suits dining tables of 1800-2400mm length when the chandelier is centred, or entryway spaces of 3m square or larger where the fitting can act as a central anchor. Each of the eight E14 bulbs takes up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose filament-style LED bulbs for a warm candle effect or brighter white LED for stronger illumination.
The wrought iron construction gives the chandelier a robust 8kg presence, and the hammered panels break up the wheel profile when viewed from below, adding depth to the silhouette. The silver patina is applied by hand to the panel surfaces, so the tonal variation differs slightly between individual units — some show more silver, others more black, depending on how the patina oxidised during finishing. The matt black frame pairs cleanly with dark wood furniture, exposed beams and stone or brick walls in traditional and farmhouse interiors, while the wheel form references cartwheel and wagon designs from medieval ironwork.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Saxon take?
The chandelier takes eight E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, maximum 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white filament-style LED bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K to match the medieval aesthetic.
What ceiling height is needed?
The minimum drop of 660mm plus the 585mm body height means the chandelier needs a ceiling height of at least 2.7m to avoid head clearance issues when hung at minimum drop. For dining table installation, the chandelier typically sits 700-900mm above the table surface, which works in rooms with 2.7-3.2m ceilings. The maximum drop of 2550mm accommodates double-height spaces and stairwells.
How is the drop adjusted?
The drop is adjusted on installation by shortening the chain length before fixing the ceiling rose. The 2400mm chain can be cut or looped to achieve any drop between 660mm and 2550mm. This is a one-time adjustment during fitting and cannot be changed without re-accessing the ceiling rose.
Does the silver patina vary between units?
Yes. The silver patina is hand-applied and oxidises differently depending on ambient conditions during finishing, so some panels show more silver contrast while others appear closer to uniform black. This is a characteristic of the hand-finishing process, not a defect.
