Description

The Saxon is a 2 light wall light built from wrought iron with a black powder-coat finish and silver patina accents on the circular backplate and centre boss. Two candle-style arms extend horizontally from the backplate, each holding an upward-facing E14 socket. The backplate features a hammered texture panel in a cross formation, with the silver patina highlighting the raised dimples across the surface.

Designed for hallways, stairwells, living rooms and dining rooms where wall-mounted accent lighting is needed, the Saxon works in both period properties and contemporary homes with darker interior palettes. The 255mm width and 125mm projection suit most wall clearances without intruding into circulation space, and the twin candle configuration gives enough light output to flank a mirror, artwork or doorway. The wrought iron construction gives the fitting a solid 1.2kg presence on the wall without requiring reinforced fixings in standard masonry or plasterboard with cavity anchors.

The black finish is applied as a powder coat over the wrought iron, giving better durability than painted finishes and resisting chips from impacts during cleaning. The silver patina is hand-applied to the hammered sections of the backplate, so the exact distribution of silver highlights varies slightly between individual fittings. The two arms taper from the centre boss to the candle cups, with turned detailing at each joint that references medieval torch brackets. Bulbs are sold separately — most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K) to match the period aesthetic.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does it take?

The Saxon takes two E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K) to match the period aesthetic while keeping running costs low.

What wall fixings are needed?

The fitting weighs approximately 1.2kg and mounts via a circular backplate with two or three screw holes. On solid masonry use 5mm wall plugs and screws. On plasterboard use cavity anchors rated to at least 5kg per fixing point.

Can it be used on low ceilings or narrow hallways?

Yes. The 125mm projection keeps the fitting close to the wall, making it suitable for narrow hallways and staircases where deeper sconces would obstruct passage. The 170mm height is compact enough for installation below picture rails or in rooms with 2.1m ceiling heights.

Does the silver patina wear off?

The silver patina is applied by hand to the raised hammered sections of the backplate. It is a surface treatment rather than a plated coating, so heavy cleaning or abrasive contact can reduce its intensity over time. Wipe gently with a dry cloth to preserve the finish.
