Saturne Outdoor Wall Light - Grey with Silver Mesh Diffuser

The Saturne is an outdoor wall light with a grey powder-coated metal body, a perforated silver mesh diffuser and a rain-cap top hat that channels water away from the bulb chamber. The light mounts on a circular backplate via a short arm, positioning the fitting 295mm from the wall to cast light both forwards and downwards. The E27 socket inside accepts bulbs up to 40W (sold separately) and is protected to IP44, making it suitable for use under eaves, on porches, or in covered outdoor areas exposed to rain and moisture.

Designed for entrance lighting, the Saturne provides functional illumination at doorways, garage entrances and garden pathways where both light output and visible presence matter. The perforated mesh diffuser softens the light cone and creates a textured halo effect when lit, while the grey finish blends into rendered or painted walls. The 270mm diameter gives the fitting presence without overwhelming narrow wall sections next to typical door frames.

The metal body is powder-coated to resist corrosion in outdoor environments, and the perforated mesh is stainless steel with a brushed silver finish that contrasts with the matt grey body. The rain cap prevents water pooling on top of the fitting, while the IP44 rating confirms protection against splashing water from any direction. Elstead Lighting backs the fitting with a 15-year guarantee covering material and manufacturing defects.

What bulb does the Saturne take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor use most buyers pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to avoid excessive brightness at close range near doorways.

Can it be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, under eaves, or in areas with overhead shelter. It is not rated for full weather exposure (driving rain, submersion) — for fully exposed coastal or unsheltered installations an IP65 fitting would be more appropriate.

How is it mounted?

The light mounts via a circular backplate fixed to the wall with two screws. The arm extends 295mm from the wall, so allow clearance for the projection when positioning near doors or windows. The backplate diameter is approximately 100mm.

What is the 15-year guarantee?

Elstead Lighting guarantees the Saturne against material and manufacturing defects for 15 years from the date of purchase. The guarantee covers the metal body, mesh diffuser and electrical components but does not cover wear from incorrect installation, accidental damage or bulb failures.
