Description

This is the working half of a crystal downlight: the lampholder and its retaining ring, finished in satin black. The ring holds one of the crystal rims sold alongside it, and the holder behind takes a single GU10 lamp rated to 10W, with a 50mm reflector LED being the sensible choice. It is sized for a 62mm cut-out, so it drops into the same aperture as most small recessed fittings. Dimming is possible where the lamp itself is dimmable; a dimmer is not part of the kit.

We sell this as the partner to the crystal rims in the same range, which do not light on their own, so if you have chosen a bubble, cluster or chamfered rim, this is the piece that makes it work. It suits hallways, dressing rooms, alcoves and low ceilings where a pendant would be in the way, and it earns its keep over a bar, a bookcase or a run of joinery. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, on a standard domestic supply, and give the lamp a moment to cool before you handle it.

The satin black is a soft, low-shine finish that reads quietly against a white ceiling and disappears behind a smoked or spectrum rim. It is double insulated, and light enough at a tenth of a kilogram that it adds almost nothing to the rim it carries. For cleaning, wipe the visible ring with a dry cloth and leave solvents and sprays well alone, as they will dull the finish. It carries a one year warranty. We keep the same kit in aged brass, polished chrome and French gold if you would rather the metalwork picked up brassware or handles elsewhere in the room, and the crystal rims come in both round and square shapes. Lamps are not included.
