Description

The Sarmarne is a wooden pendant light with a round, open globe shade made of curved wooden slats in a warm maple colour, hung on a slim cord from a round satin nickel ceiling canopy. A satin nickel lamp holder sits at the centre of the globe, a neat, cool contrast with the honey tones of the wood. The shade is 30cm in diameter and the light is 130cm in overall height, so it hangs comfortably over a table without crowding the room. It takes a single E27 bulb of up to 60W, and its IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms.

We think it looks its best over a dining table, where light spills out between the slats and gives the room a warm, relaxed glow for long evenings. It suits a living room, a bedroom or a hallway just as well. The wood brings warmth to plain walls and sits happily alongside oak furniture, linen and soft neutral colours, so it fits Scandinavian and rustic rooms alike. Because it is rated IP20, keep it to dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms or outdoor spaces.

The steel body carries a satin nickel finish, a soft, low sheen that complements the pale wood rather than competing with it. There is no switch on the light itself, as it is switched at the wall from your existing light switch. The bulb is not included, so choose an E27 bulb of up to 60W; a warm white bulb brings out the colour of the wood. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains and weighs 1.117KG packed.
