Description

The Knightsbridge SARA is a recessed LED scoop downlight with three switchable wattage settings (15W, 20W, 25W) and three selectable colour temperatures (3000K, 4000K, 5000K), controlled via onboard switches accessed during installation. The fitting integrates a DALI2 constant-current driver, allowing connection to room-based or networked building control systems for dimming, scene-setting and integration with presence sensors or daylight harvesting. The scoop head rotates 350° and tilts 40° from vertical, directing light onto feature walls, artwork or merchandise.

Designed for commercial interiors including retail, hospitality, office and exhibition spaces, the SARA suits applications where lighting requirements change over time or between zones within the same building. The switchable wattage and CCT allow the same fitting to be respecified without replacing hardware — a 3000K warm-white setting for a restaurant dining area can be switched to 5000K cool-white for a retail zone, or the 15W output increased to 25W where ceiling heights are greater. The die-cast aluminium body with white powder-coated finish integrates into standard 140mm ceiling cut-outs with a minimum void depth of 160mm.

The COB (chip-on-board) LED delivers up to 2,605 lumens at maximum wattage and cool-white temperature, with efficacy reaching 140 lumens per watt. The fitting ships with plug-and-play connectors for mains and DALI control lines, reducing installation time on multi-fitting projects. The Class II double-insulated construction requires no earth connection. Knightsbridge backs the SARA with a 5-year warranty and L70B50 rating of 50,000 hours, indicating 70% lumen maintenance after 50,000 hours of operation.

Frequently Asked

How are the wattage and colour temperature settings changed?

Wattage (15W, 20W, 25W) and CCT (3000K, 4000K, 5000K) are selected via onboard switches accessed during installation, before the fitting is secured into the ceiling void. Once set, the switches are not user-accessible without removing the fitting.

What is DALI2 and do I need it?

DALI2 (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) allows the fitting to be controlled by a room-based or building-wide lighting management system. It enables dimming, scene control, integration with presence sensors and daylight harvesting. If your installation does not use DALI control, the fitting operates at the wattage and CCT set via the onboard switches and can be controlled by standard mains switching.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum void depth of 160mm is required above the ceiling surface to accommodate the fitting body, heat sink and driver. The cut-out diameter is 140mm.

Can the fitting be used with an emergency backup system?

Yes. The SARA is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2 emergency conversion kit (sold separately), which provides emergency lighting functionality in the event of mains failure.
